Bird Watching:
Visiting birdwatchers have access to 25,000 acres of farmland, moorland, woodlands and lochs. The good conservation practice required to maintain the sporting estate is also used to encourage the retention of native species. The wide diversity of habitats has encouraged a vast variety of native and migrant songbirds, woodland and moorland birds, many within easy access of Craigadam. The artist and birdwatcher can find beauty and solitude in the hills, the woods or the cliffs and sands of the Solway Coast.

Nature Reserves:
Dumfries & Galloway has many reserves. These are well worth visiting, the extensive Forestry Enterprise plantations of Ae Forest, Mabie Forest, Dalbeattie Forest, the Galloway Forest Park woods at Carsphairn, Clatteringshaws and Glen Trool, offer considerable and diverse birdlife. There are also many areas of cliff and inland crag used as nesting sites. The Reserves protect special or extensive areas, often of wetlands.

Golf Courses:
Craigadam is centrally located within Dumfries and Galloway, a Region containing over thirty golf courses of varying kinds. Troon, Ayr and Turnberry, are all within fifty miles of Craigadam. All the courses have different settings; some are links courses, others on hill slopes inland, with a choice of 9 or 18 holes and a variety of challenges. Walking & Rambling:
Dumfries & Galloway is an area of great natural beauty and is ideal for those who love to walk in the fresh air. There are an abundance of natural walks available even within Craigadam Estate itself (pictured left) and a myriad of opportunities to capture the scenic beauty of the area.
Touring:
Craigadam is an excellent base from which to tour and study the historical and natural heritage of this part of Scotland. The estate and its surroundings have a rich bird and animal wildlife, protected by the family to be available to nature enthusiasts.

Clay Shooting & Other Activities:
At Craigadam we're equipped to accommodate many other outdoor sports, such as Clay Shooting and Off Road Driving. If you're a keen cyclist then we have plenty of places that you can show off your Mountain Biking skills!
